LeMans MotoGP surprises

At the recent LeMans round of the MotoGP calendar we had quite a bit of action. Lets start with the obvious, the winners. Jorge Lorenzo won the race from pole. Valentino Rossi came home second and in third we found a Suzuki with Maverick Viñales. The first two were expected. After all, Lorenzo was quite strong here in recent years. He stormed away from pole and into the lead by turn one. He never looked back.

Behind Lorenzo the French GP at LeMans got interesting. Riders started to fall over each other. Well, not really bumping off each other, they more lost the front. In one instant Andrea Dovizioso and Marc Marquez binned it in perfect synchronisation. They were behind Lorenzo and closing the gap. Then both at the same time lost the front and went down. shortly before Andrea Iannone did the same out of second place. He was catching Lorenzo. It wasn’t to be.

A whole raft of other riders went down. Aussie Jack Miller was one of them. At the time he was in in a strong top ten. But LeMans wanted something else. Marc Marquez remounted and ended up a lap down in 13th place. At least he salvaged some points. Read more here: LeMans GP

Now for the other cartoon. As a keen MotoGP follower you would have noticed Dani Pedrosa. The big question at LeMans was if Dani makes the move to Yamaha. At this stage we don’t know. We all have to wait and see what Maverick Viñales does. He is pipped to do the move. But he is likely to stay at Suzuki. Only time will tell. More of this story can be found here: Pedrosa to Yamaha?

I drew Dani small as usual. I like him a lot. He has been with Honda for a very long time. It would certainly be an interesting move. Remember. Lorenzo is moving to Ducati for next season. I hope it all works out for them.
