Up in smoke she went. Who won? What happened in the race? Not many care. Why not? well, Rossi’s Yamaha expired in a big puff of smoke. That was very disappointing for the local fans. They all came to see Valentino Rossi winning. They left early.

So, what really happened? Marquez won the race with fellow countryman Lorenzo in second and the Italian Iannone in third. Ian none had a shocker off the line and was right down the field. It was a hard fought third place he got out of it. Personally I didn’t think he will manage, bit he did. Lorenzo played the safe game and didn’t challenge Marquez too much. Marquez on the other hand took some great risks to get to the from and past the hard breaking Lorenzo. Once past he started to open up a gap. You could tell he was riding the rings off that bike.

But you want to know what happened to Rossis Yamaha? Well, it’s dead. Interestingly Lorenzos Yamaha expired in a similar fashion on Friday. That’s not too bad as you don’t win any points during practice. When Yamaha examined the bikes they found an electronic fault. That doesn’t sound so bad you might say. That electronic gizmo was in charge of making sure the engine doesn’t overrun. Essentially controlling the rev limiter. Rossi cam over a crest and the rear wheel was for a split second in the air. Thus, with no contact to the asphalt to keep the wheel from spinning excessively, it just did that. It was too much for the valves and boom. She let go.

It was quite evident that Rossi wan’t impressed. It looked a bit like a steam train. But that was the end of Rossis attack for a podium finish at his home round. He’ll be back for the next round.
