Week 42, Instrument Goat Challenge

It all started with a horse playing a Piano. The week 42 theme is Instrument. I had my reservations about this weeks theme. I don’t play any Instrument, at all. I’m not even good at singing. Well, I’m good at shower singing. But most of the times it’s only me listening to myself. so, I’m not that bad.

Back to this cartoon. I started with a horse. Next I had a cow plucking some strings, an old billy goat with a banjo and dog with squeezebox. Of course I had to get the kids in as well. They aren’t very musical. My goats aren’t. If I’d be giving them a guitar, it would be eaten in no time. Because of that I had them dancing. They are good at that. The kids don’t get an Instrument. Old billy goat is an exception, he’s a bit more mature and can be trusted with an Instrument.

I give you a little back ground on how I finished this picture. I did most work by had as I do most times. But I couldn’t be bothered about the background. Sometimes it just takes way too much time to do. My Instrument in this case is the computer. Maybe Instrument is the wrong term. I should call it a tool. I used Photoshop with this one to do the background. It’d not all that hard anymore. I start getting used to that tool. It’s not easy to learn but with little projects like that I learn a lot. I make mistakes but at the end of the day I learn. Maybe one day I will transition all my work to the computer. It has a different feel to it. It’s more clinical. But I also like the less perfect feel of a hand drawn piece of art.

There you go. With Instrument down I have to get my focus onto next weeks theme. What will it be? But that’s for me to know, for you to find out. Please tune in again in a weeks time.

Just found your site while looking for an image about MotoGP. Your cartoons are brilliant . Enjoyed the last one – looking forward to seeing the one for today’s race. Having found your site I then had to go back over all the MotoGP and SBK ones, then all the goats … that’s my afternoon gone 🙂 (I’m in Europe). Your site now added to my favourites.

    • Thank you Alison. I was just about to add the latest MotoGP cartoon. This is a tough one, trying not to upset the fans from the different corners.
      Cheers

    Hi Danny,

I like the Valencia one! Not sure you succeed in not upsetting anyone 🙂 Sad that the season is over, I hope will do a series next year too?

I will be sharing a link to your site on Farcebook as soon I have worked out what I want to write and which cartoon to link to. My favourite is the Phillip Island one, it sums up the race perfectly but not sure it will make sense to all my friends.

Looking forward to seeing more about the goats.

    • It’s not easy. There is a mob out there who pulls a cartoon or an article apart and analyses all the detail. It is very strange for me. First and foremost I draw for myself. If I upset someone in the process then it’s bad luck. I’m glad you like it.
I’m not biassed towards a particular rider. I like the sport and the action. I will continue to add motorsport related cartoons throughout the year and of course the goats. I hope I can make you all smile.
