Week 1: Fancy Dress Challenge
Fancy Dress is the first challenge this year. I have to admit, it was so much fun doing all those challenges last year. Now we have started with the new year and a whole bunch of new challenges. The first one off the ranks is Fancy Dress. The kids love these sort of things. They are easily distracted.
I could have gone down the path of batman or superman or even a little fairy. So it wasn’t an easy choice. Looking back I think it was the right one. I enjoyed to give the bride an elongated, elegant look. Brides do look fabulous at the wedding. It’s their day and they want to make the most out of it. One day to feel like a princess. So the dress my be a bit fancy.
Then along come the three little kids. They want to know what this is all about.
I drew this illustration the traditional way again. I started a new sketch book and by the end of the year it will be full. It doesn’t usually take that long. on average I get one cartoon per page, sometimes more. I do all my drawing on A4. Why? You might ask. Well, I only have an A4 scanner and it would be unwise to start using larger papers that I will have trouble with scanning. It has its limitations but like any tradesman, you do the best with what you have. One day I might upgrade and get a larger scanner. Preferably with a larger printer as well. But that can wait. First I have to make some serious money. I will try to set up a chop here soon. Now that will be fancy! Then you can buy all the prints you like and I even sell some of your favourite originals.
