A Daisy Ridley caricature

It has been a while since I posted a caricature. I did the first one for this year about Daisy Ridley. I really don’t know much about her. I’ve been told that she is acting in the latest Star Wars movie. That doesn’t interest me much. I haven’t seen any of the others, so why would I start now. I love science fiction a lot. However, Star Wars was never high on the agenda for me. If I watch a movie It’s got to be a good one. But I’m not here to review Star Wars. This is about the caricature of Daisy.

There is a Facebook page called Caricaturama Showdown 3000. If you click the name you can get there. For those who are interested in caricatures, this is a pretty good site. They have weekly challenges and it’s always fun to see how others approach the same target.

Now, how did I go about this one. Daisy Ridley seemed to be a tough one to do. She has a pretty face and there isn’t much really standing out that you could exaggerate straight away. What I do quite often is googling the name in images and see what it throws up. I found this one that I thought I could work on. It was black and white. I sketched it out on a sketch book so see where it takes me. I don’t always know which way I go with a caricature until I start. This one lent itself to a facial distortion.

Once the sketch was done I scanned it and imported it into Photoshop. There I inked it. I purchased a bunch of nice brushes. That makes my job a lot easier. Then I added a colour layer for the basic colour. I added chasing and highlights at the end. I tried out new brushes. At the this is what you get, a finished caricature of Daisy Ridley.

I hope you like it.
