Jackass Jack Miller wins MotoGP race in Assen

Our Aussie MotoGP hero won a chaotic round of the MotoGP series in Assen. He lovingly calls himself Jackass, Jack Miller. We might as well call him Jackass. He did a fabulous job out there. And to win against the best of the best in the world is something to be proud of. He bravely went around Marc Marquez into the lead. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves.

The race was declared wet. Jack started in 18th position. The race was all over the shop from the go. some riders binned to and some, like Lorenzo, went backwards quickly. Our Jackass went forward. Race direction had to stop the race due to safety concerns. When they did Jack Miller was in eight. Even that would have been his best result in the premier class. As it turned out, it wasn’t good enough for him.

The race resumed a bit later and quickly things started to fall apart for many riders. Valentino Rossi fell out of the lead. Quite uncharacteristic for him. Also Dovisioso did the same, also from the lead. The conditions weren’t great out there. Noe we had Marc Marquez in the lead. Soon enough our Jackass moved up from behind. With eight laps to go he jus rode past Marquez. Marc didn’t fight back. Jack pulled a gap and controlled it from there on. It was nerve wracking to watch. I reckon most Aussie motorsport fans didn’t breath from there on. They would have everything crossed.

Finally, the chequered flag was out and Jack pulled a nightly wheelie across the line. What a Jackass! He did it with style and he beat them all fair and square. There is a saying in bike racing: If you want to finish first, you must first finish. He did that and the whole of Australia is proud of him. He is also only the second ever privateer to win a MotoGP race.

On ya mate! I hope he can repeat this in the coming races.
